David E. Orton
President & CEO
David Orton has 2 decades of progressive senior business leadership experience including multi business unit general management, marketing, channel development, mergers & acquisitions, IPOs, and product management. Tenures include ARMTEC Infrastructure, Clean Energy Fuels, Bell Canada’s satellite communications group, and Rogers Communications.
David has worked in startups – pre, and post IPO, mid-sized struggling entities and large public and private enterprise and has significant North American and international experience including Latin America, Africa, Europe, Russia and Asia, holding both Canadian and European Union citizenship and passports.
A skilled speaker and presenter who represents his organization with poise and credibility, Mr. Orton’s management and development success has effectively ported across tech, engineered services and manufacturing with a rapid adoption curve. David builds powerful, integrated, KPI driven organizations that use the latest technology tools to fully leverage the potential of a company’s internal and external human relationships.
Starting his career in the early days of cellular, Mr. Orton quickly progressed from a top national commercial sales performer to General Management with TCGI and then Rogers Communications. David then played a key role in the successful launch of North America’s first mobile satellite communications network, advancing to the role of Vice President, Business Development for Bell Canada’s Commercial Satellite group. At Armtec, Canada’s half billion dollar infrastructure materials manufacturer, Mr. Orton advanced to General Manager, Pacific region overseeing three factories with two different unions and on non-union shop. Moving to Clean Energy Compression, the largest Canadian manufacturer of industrial Natural Gas Compression Systems, David lead the global commercial group with staff in nine countries as Sr. Vice President, Global Business Development & Marketing.
Mr. Orton holds a BA in Asian Area Studies from the University of British Columbia and is a private pilot. Dave is married with five daughters and resides with his family in Langley British Columbia.
Director, Finance & Human Resources
Mr. Alam’s extensive academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts form the College of Wooster in Ohio, a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri and a M.B.A., Finance from the University Of Western Ontario, London. In addition, Hume holds CPA, CMA designations, has completed Laurier University’s Management Accounting, Strategic Leadership, Applied Business program, McMaster University’s Management Education Plan– Business Diploma and the internal Brink’s Leadership Program & Lean Six Sigma Certification.
Mr. Alma’s early career was spent in engineering at Briggs & Stratton’s ($1.7B) Milwaukie head office manufacturing facility where he gained deep, practical insights into world class manufacturing processes. From there he worked at Lafarge North America, the largest diversified supplier of construction materials in the U.S. and Canada, evaluating prospective target companies for acquisition. Hume then spent nine years at Brinks Canada Inc. in Mississauga Ontario, completing his tenure as Sr. Finance Manager before bringing his family West to be closer to extended family and friends in the Abbotsford area. Most recently, Hume was the Manager of Process Improvement for 4Refuel Canada Inc., the largest on-site fuel provider in North America, serving over 6,000 clients in over 900 cities across Canada, delivering over 3.5 million unique fueling transactions annually.
Director, Program Management Office
Yasser’s academic background includes a BSc Civil Engineering from Ain Shams University Cairo, Egypt, as well as certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) in Pennsylvania and progress toward certification as a Professional Business Analyst (PBA) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) Pennsylvania.
Mr. Mourad’s technical experience includes 10 years of progressive engineering management experience in Project & Program Management where he developed skills in tendering, design and execution of major projects over $100M USD in value. Yasser’s technical tool box includes AutoCAD, SAP, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Primavera.
Yasser’s professional background includes tenures as Structural Engineer with Parsons International, a global engineering, construction, technical, and professional services firm focusing on infrastructure, defense, security, and construction. From there he progressed to Area Manager and then Project Manager with Trevi S.p.A., a global engineering company involved in foundation engineering, tunnel excavation, soil consolidations, recovery of polluted sites, and the design and marketing of relevant special technologies, in the drilling field (oil, gas and water). Most recently, Mr. Mourad was Project Manager for Bauer GmbH on their diamond mine projects in Canada’s North. BAUER Foundations Canada Inc. provides design build solutions in shoring systems, all types of piles and deep foundations, slurry cut-off walls, ground improvement, and other specialty geotechnical areas.
Director, Design & Engineering
Mr. Fedoruk’s career spans more than 20 years of progressive experience in Project and Architectural Design. Gordon’s educational background and technical tool box includes Architectural Design from the University of the Fraser Valley, Autodesk Training Center – 3D Studio , Building Codes BCIT, Architectural Desktop and AutoCAD Architecture, Revit.
Gord started his career with SCR PlanTech and from there quickly launched into a nineteen year tenure with one of the largest modular construction companies in BC. Mr. Fedoruke started out as a Junior designer, working up through intermediate to senior designer, taking on a wide range of projects and levels of responsibility culminating in the $200 million Manitoba Hydro Keeyask project.
Gord’s passion for modular, focus on innovation, understanding of advanced design tools and appreciation of systems and process make him an invaluable part of the management team.
Mr. Picher’s background includes Geomatics Engineering where his experience in construction surveying and CAD lead him to a seven year tenure with Finning’s technology group SITECH. At Finning, Ed rapidly advanced from Technical Support Representative to Technology Sales & Service Representative, then BC Regional Sales Manager. Along with leading his organizations sales to Dealer of the Year (World), Ed is an accomplished panelist and speaker at major industry events. Most recently, Mr. Picher was the Business & Industry Relations & Sales Manager for IHE where he functioned as the Industry & Aboriginal engagement representative and lobbyist.
Ed holds a Geomatics Engineering Technology Diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, along with recognized business development and corporate negotiation certifications.
Director, Supply Chain
Mr Omar’s academic background includes a Bachelors in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Kerala as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calgary,. In addition, Ash is a certified Six Sigma, Lean Green Belt.
Mr. Omar’s professional experience includes progressive roles as both Senior Production Planner and Process Quality Engineer & Production Planner with General Electric where he supported the full supply chain process for GE’s gas turbine generator and industrial motors manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.
Director, Quality , Staff & Contractor Development
Mr. Chalmers’ technical resume includes 20 years of progressive experience in the Alberta industrial construction industry across project management, site management, installation, maintenance and repair. Brandon’s technical tool box includes H2S Alive, First Aid OFA 1, Ground Disturbance Level 2, Petroleum Safety Training with Construction Safety Training Level 2, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Confined Space Entry, and Electronic General Safety Orientation.
Brandon’s professional background includes Crescent Point Energy, who, at $2.5B is one of Canada’s largest light and medium oil producers. Brandon was the Lead Facility Inspector heading a team of ten inspectors and over 200 contractor employees for the construction, operation and maintenance activities on highly regulated pipeline and facility projects where he executed six major facility projects, worth over ten million dollars annually, on time and on budget.
Mr. Chalmers then advanced to Pipeline & Facility Inspector for Progress Energy Canada Ltd., where he led a crew of 100 employees in Northeast British Columbia. Progress is focused on exploration, development and production of large, unconventional natural gas resources with over 52 trillion cubic feet of reserves and contingent resources. As part of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Malaysia’s integrated energy corporation and one of the largest FORTUNE Global 500 companies, Progress is the largest natural gas resource holder in Western Canada.
Joining Shelter in late 2017 to support the company’s quality assurance program, Brandon’s experience with complex site and contractor management quickly lead him to overseeing the company’s growing contracted site crew services as our Business Development VP leads us more aggressively into turn-key offerings. The company’s need for ongoing support of our Quality initiatives, aggressive recruitment and staff development programs, and enhanced contractor selection, approval and on-site oversight is well suited to Mr. Chalmers background and experience.
